Tae Kwon Do

"The Art of Punching And Kicking"

Tae Kwon Do is the name of the Korean Martial Art many people think of as Karate (Japanese word for "empty hand").  However, it is much more than simply an "empty hand" and many Orientals actually translate Tae Kwon Do to mean "Super Karate"  so students will know the difference.

With over 20 million registered Black Belts, Tae Kwon Do is easily the most popular Martial Art in the world.  As a competitive sport, it is second only to soccer in total number of athletes.

Despite its great popularity and sports appeal, Tae Kwon Do has much more to offer than mere entertainment and physical fitness.  Tae Kwon Do contains a philosophy;  a code of ethics, a set of values that can literally be called a way of life.

Students of Tae Kwon Do learn many ways to block an attack, strike in various ways with hands, elbows, knees, and feet, and many other strategies of self defense.  Every part of the body is used for attack and defense practice.

However, the thing that really  makes Tae Kwon Do stand out from other styles of Martial Art is its fancy, devastating kicks.  NO other Martial Art (Except Hapkido, its "Parent Art") can compare to Tae Kwon Do's beautiful, flashy kicking skills, especially when combined with the dynamic hand striking techniques of our Art.
