PRESIDENT’S CORNER:

Whether you are a current member or a new student, I would like to welcome you to the World Martial Arts Academy family.  By joining our Dojang (Training Hall) you have made a very important and wise decision for the quality of your future life.

An ancient Korean proverb states that  “A  Journey of 1,000 Miles Begins With A Single Step In The Right Direction.”  You must consider this as you begin or continue your practice of Hapkido, Tae Kwon Do, or Judo.  You have already chosen to enroll in the best Dojang, with the absolute best facilities, and highest quality instruction available.  You have taken that first step in the right direction;  now it is up to you to continue on the right path of self-improvement.

At this time of year many people are starting exercise and diet programs, attempting to shed some extra weight, or just “firming up” a little.  Others may be taking classes at college to improve their job and mental skills, or becoming more involved with their church to develop themselves spiritually.  Still others want to be more physically prepared for school or fall sports.  Appropriately enough, this month’s message is SELF-IMPROVEMENT.

During the course of your Martial Arts training you will often hear the Instructor speak about self-improvement on a daily basis.  In the true Martial Arts we work to improve ourselves physically, mentally, and spiritually every day.

At the World Martial Arts Academy we are a “BLACK BELT SCHOOL.”  This means that the goal of all Martial Art students should be to earn their Black Belt both in the Martial Arts (Hapkido, Tae Kwon Do, Judo), and in LIFE.  Some of the qualities of a Black Belt holder include courtesy, confidence, self-motivation, will power, integrity, maturity, self-control, endurance, patience, dependability, loyalty, physical fitness, intelligence, and pride in one’s appearance.

The same characteristics that distinguish the Black Belt apart from the average Martial Art student will also make the Black Belt in life stand head and shoulders above the average person.

The secret?  Just simply set your goal and don’t quit working toward it.  Period.  Just don’t quit.

Each day you are either getting closer to your Black Belt, or closer to quitting.  Each day you are either improving your self and your life, or moving backward (Getting in debt, out of shape, bored with your life).

Only YOU can decide what kind of student you will be, both in the Marital Arts, and in life.  Stick to your goals!!!
